Red Herring‘s Top 100 North America conference kicks off this evening in California. The event, which runs until Wednesday night, begins with a cocktail mixer tonight before two days of keynote speeches, roundtable discussions and presentations on the latest in the global tech and startup industry.
From veterans and VCs to first-time entrepreneurs, expect to find a wide array of talent and innovation on show at this year’s Top 100 in Marina Del Rey, where Los Angeles meets the Pacific Ocean. The conference concludes with an awards ceremony and dinner, during which some of North America’s most promising and exciting startups will receive their honor from Red Herring chairman Alex Vieux.
The show comes at what appears to be a crossroads for tech in North America. Stocks have surged and unicorns are being born almost every week. Major innovations in mobility, security, AI and robotics thrill insiders and consumers alike.
Yet public trust in Big Tech continues to take a hit amid the fallout of scandals at Facebook and other major companies. And with US President Donald Trump’s trade war set to send shockwaves through the global economy, the mood in Silicon Valley and elsewhere is one of precarious optimism.
Nevertheless, Red Herring‘s Top 100 conference remains a celebration, and examination, of the best and most exciting startups today – and this year’s event will prove no different.
