Series A
BitGo, a bitcoin security platform, has raised a $12 million Series A funding round led by Redpoint Ventures. Ashton Kutcher’s A-Grade Investments, Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, Radar Partners, Bitcoin Opportunity Corp., Liberty City Ventures and Crypto Currency Partners all participated, as did existing investors Bridgescale Partners, Jeff Skoll, Bill Lee and Eric Hahn. BitGo operates an online wallet for individuals to store bitcoins.
Series B
Mobile sales productivity platform Clari has secured a Series B funding round worth $20 million, led by Bain Capital Ventures. Northgate Capital and existing investor Sequoia Capital also participated in the round. Clari has raised a total of $26 million in funding since it was founded in 2012.
Series D
PowerVision, a medical device company developing a fluid-based accommodating intraocular lens, has completed a $30 million Series D financing round. New investors Aisling Capital and Correlation Venture Partners participated, as did existing investor Venrock.
Series E
Enterprise mobility company Kony has raised $50 million in financing, in a Series E round led by SoftBank Capital. Existing investors Insight Venture Partners, Telstra Ventures and Georgian Partners participated, while new funding came from Delta-V and Hamilton Lane. Kony has raised nearly $100 million to date.
Funding
VeloCloud Networks, which provides cloud-delivered WAN, has raised $21 million in a funding round led by New Enterprise Associates and Venrock. Incubator The Fabric also participated. “VeloCloud aims to fundamentally alter the economics of the WAN while simplifying and automating network operations for distributed enterprises,” said VeloCloud co-founder and CEO, Sanjay Uppal.
M&A
Cloud-based file storage company Box has acquired Streem, a service that allows users to stream large files to their desktops. Deal terms were not announced by Box, which is in the process of going public.
