Icahn, today, launched another salvo at Yang and company for the executive ineptness and for failing to have a clear plan for Yahoo. The billionaire financier is betting all-in, hoping that he can get the deal between Microsoft and Yahoo signed before the August 1st AGM, but what if he can't?
Though a rags to riches story, Icahn has had failures too, TWA and Blockbuster spring to mind, but if he were unable to pull this deal off it would represent his biggest flunk to date.
Some analysts feel that if the deal is not done then it is unlikely that Icahn would recoup his original investment as Yahoo's stock would most likely fall well below his strike price.
I think Ballmer and Microsoft still want this deal to go through, so my money is on Icahn pulling it off, apparently, he's a bit of a philosopher as well as an avid chess player so I think he is always going to be a few moves ahead in closing the biggest deal of the century to date.
