Apple shares on Monday dipped 3 percent after the Mac maker announced USB power adapter recalls last week.

Shares of Apple dropped $4.25, or3 percent, to $136.66 in midday trading.

The Cupertino, California, computer maker on Friday saidthat it would replace the iPhone ultracompact USB adapters, which run the risk of breaking and causing electrical shock, for free.

No injuries to users of the USB chargers have been reported yet, Apple said Friday in a statement.

Apple will have new adapters in stores by October 10 and isselling new iPhones without including the USB wall adapter, according to American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu.
