Social-networking Web site Facebook on Monday said it named former Genentech CFO David Ebersman as its new financial guru.

As CFO of the world’s largest social-networking Web site—Facebook claims 200 million users worldwide—Mr. Ebersman will report to founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg on all financial matters and real estate operations.

“He was Genentech's CFO while revenue tripled, and his success in scaling the finance organization of a fast-growing company will be important to Facebook,”  Mr. Zuckerberg said in a statement.

Mr. Ebersman will start at Facebook’s Palo Alto, California, offices in September 2009, exactly six months after former CFO Gideon Yu announced his resignation.
