Employment

Common sense has it that most people start looking for their next job while enjoying the benefits of full-time employment. Apparently, most people start looking for a new gig while actually on the job, according to Wanted Technologies.

The two-year-old Canadian company tracked the traffic patterns on its employment-oriented Web site over a number of months. Based on 215,447 hits, the majority (51.4 percent) of job-related surfers were logging on during normal business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Only 18.6 percent were looking for jobs on the weekends; Tuesday was the workday most conducive to job hunting. In September, Wanted Technologies launched a new service, Wanted Jobs 2K, that offers integrated content from online career publications, career advice, and listings for more than 2.4 million jobs through 30 sites. Just don't let your boss catch you looking at it.
