Apple Issues iPhone-Related Recall

Don’t worry, that Apple iPhone 3G hasn’t been recalled--yet.

But the Cupertino, California, Mac maker said Friday after the close of U.S. financial markets that its ultracompact USB adaptor, used to charge iPhone 3Gs, runs the “risk of electrical shock.”

The adapter can break off in a wall socket, exposing people to the outlet, the company said in a statement. Apple said it has received reports of broken adapters but that there have been no injuries.

The power adapters were sold in the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, and Panama.

Apple has advised people to stop using the adapters immediately and exchange them for free for a new redesigned one.
