Facebook has picked up 40 percent growth in the social-networking category tracked by Hitwise, the firm reported Wednesday.
The Palo Alto, California, company grabbed 16.91 percent of the Internet visits to social networking sites, as tracked by Hitwise, in June compared with 11.6 percent a year ago.

No. 1 social network MySpace declined by 6 percent in June, showing 71.9 percent compared with 77.4 percent a year earlier.
Behind Facebook came No. 3 MyYearbook, with 1.54 percent, followed by Tagged, with 1.08 percent, and Bebo, with 1.05 percent.
