Nintendo has provided more information on its more
“hardcore” releases.
Punch-Out!!, the remake of the classic NES game, will
release on May 18, although besides the release date, further details are
scarce. Still, as long as the game improves on the motion controls found in Wii
Boxing (and maybe throws in some Balance Board support), the game should please
fans.
Meanwhile, the Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis remakes will be
released on March 9 under the “New Play Control!” banner. New Play Control!
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat will come out on May 4.
Nintendo also announced a new game, Excitebots: Trick
Racing, to be released April 20. The game will be an extension of the
Excitebike and Excite Truck franchises, though not much else besides that is
known. Nevertheless, this is pretty good news, as Excite Truck was a fun,
albeit underrated, launch title on the Wii.
On the DS front, the most notable news is that Nintendo will
be bringing The Legendary Starfy stateside. The series has been Japan-only
since its inception in 2002, though the titular character made an appearance as
an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
There are also a slew of promising-looking third party
titles set to release over the next few months, such as The Conduit, Boom Blox
Bash Party, and Klonoa on the Wii, and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor,
Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure, and Peggle Dual Shot on the DS.
